Report COVID-19 Scam Attempts
COVID-19-related scams often use urgency, fake “government” branding, and payment demands to pressure individuals or businesses into sharing personal information or sending money. Reporting scam attempts helps identify patterns and reduce future harm.
Common Scam Patterns
- Emails or texts claiming you must “verify” identity to receive a payment
- Requests for bank account details, passwords, or one-time codes
- Fake invoices, fake grant offers, or “fee to release funds” requests
- Impersonation of agencies, banks, or well-known programs
Information to Capture Before Reporting
- Date/time and method (email, text, phone call, social media)
- Phone numbers, email addresses, website URLs, or payment instructions
- Any documents, screenshots, or message headers you have
- What was requested and what (if anything) was shared or paid
